Looking for Programmers for collective software project

We are looking for programmers to join the interdisciplinary cluster that groups around the nota association, whose members develop ideas and art in the nota network - using the nota software - and also collectively develop the nota software.

More specifically, we are currently looking for programmers to work on the collaborative project "Archive of Encounters" (see below) we are realizing together with the documenta archive. Further grant applications are submitted and planned.

Our way of working is characterized by flat hierarchies and a lot of exchange among each other. Produced by a community of artists, scientists, and programmers, nota is an alternative to 'software solutions', and a a social, technical and aesthetic digital rehearsal space and assembly tool.

Archive of Encounters

Coming from the independent theater scene, visual arts, computer science and restoration science, we have been conducting artistic research with nota on questions of archiving ephemeral art since 2018 (More info here: https://vollmilch.me/notanarchive_engl.html). For the cooperation project 'Archive of Encounters' with the documenta archive, which is funded by the Aventis Foundation, our assembly software nota is to be further developed into an accessible archiving and mediation software for ephemeral art by the end of June 2022.

The interface of the software is to be revised (i.e. touch operation). nota's digital space is virtually infinitely zoomable (or as zoomable as Javascript's number space allows), which presents interesting programming challenges for both the UI and the planned performance improvements. Frontend and backend are to become more performant, among other things, through a new data structure. The software will be tested and revised in an open project space during documenta fifteen. Artists, exhibition visitors and scientists are invited to record their specific experiences and memories of interactive art of the d15 in nota.
